August 2008 Newsletter

The August camp out was held at Natural Falls SP in W/Siloam Springs, from 7 - 9 August. The host for this campout was the Callahans with help from Tuckers. We did not have a club house for our meeting but we had a covered open pavilion. It was really ok. We had good weather, not too bad. We even played cards and games one night. Those that were at this campout were: Callahans, Tuckers, Marshs, Griffins, Maxwells and the Barratieres. Delbert & Jean Bouse were our guest and we were glad to have them.. We all did some touring to the following areas, Casino, Allen's Cannery, Tontitown- bought peaches and tomatoes, Springdale- Susan's for Lunch .We had lunch at Callahan's Restaurant one afternoon and stopped by the strip mall to visit Stag and Dollar Tree, big rain came. Ask Cliff & Inez Tucker about their Awning and Inez's trip to the emergency room for 12 stitches. The potluck dinner Friday night was Build-A-Mountain. . The Sunday morning Brunch, provided by our hosts the Callahan's and Tucker's was biscuits and gravy. Zane gave a great devotional.

Presidents Report: Dennis called the meeting to order and commented on the following:

1- Received a thank you note from the Ken Hardy family, thanking the club for thoughts, prayers and the plant for Ken's funeral.

2- Dennis discussed the May 2009 Campout at Canton Lake. Jimmy Johnson had to reserve the 14 sites to get the area we needed and that the price had increase because of the activities that weekend. Jimmy had put the cost of reservations on his own charge card ($476) and the increase of $238 was needed. Total of $714. A motion was made and 2nd to write a check from the club funds to cover the total cost and each member repay the club at campout. The motion carried. If we did not use all the sites we could rent them out. The club would have to be responsible for the unused sites.

Secretary's Report: Barry reported that this month Martha Marsh Birthday is the 15th. The Marsh's, Hall and the Tuckers have anniversaries, The Hall's are the 22nd, the Tucker's the 28th and the Marsh's the 30th. Happy anniversary.

Old Business: Some discussion was made about the changing the Nov 08 campout at Robbers Cave to Guthrie. Barry did schedule the club for November 5 - 8 at Cedar Valley RV Park in Guthrie. 12 Rigs.

Wagon master: Ron Griffin talked about the schedule 2009, in particular the Joe's Lake Texoma Campout in Sept. Ron stated that they do not make reservations. Is it a problem? We needed to have Jim Johnson check it out. We would get back to the club. The next campout will be at Ft Cobb. Take I40 to Exit 101, go S on 281 to Binger, go W on 152 to 146 to club.

Chaplin Report: Dennis provided us with the latest on health and prayer request for our club members: Bill West was still recovering. Shirley Griffin, Bonnie & Harry Harrison all need our prayers.

Branson: From this campout 4 members drove on to Branson. We had a good time at the Oak Grove RV park. We saw a couple of shows and had dinner at the theater. Tucker is still having truck problems there.
