April 2008 Newsletter

The April campout was at Ft Cobb. We had 11 members present with one new member, they were the Callahans, Erby Cheatham, Griffins, Johnsons, Marshes, Owens, Doyle Rowe, Thrailkills, Tuckers, Wests and the new members John & Debbie Riley. Others that visited during the campout were Jimmy Johnsons friends from Lone Wolf (who helped with the Fish Fry), Donnie & Charlene Fink and John & Ronda Clayton. The Griffins had to leave early they had a bad water leak within their motor home. The camp out was fun but the weather kept most of the guys from doing any serious fishing. Good thing Jimmy & Diane had caught a number of fish prior to the campout. Gene & Jimmy brought their boats with them but the wind and rain kept them in. The club did visit some local stores and restaurants, Ft Cobb's Ski-Boy Drive-in, Anadarko's El Charro and the Cross-Timbers. As usual some did visit the Anadarko Super Wal-Mart.

President: Our president was not present so, Jimmy Johnson (VP) called the meeting to order Saturday. Some discussion was made on the site selection committee. Jim mentioned that the other members of the committee had not turned in their list for 2009. He did state that Palo Duro Canyon in TX might be the out of state choice. Mt View, AR was also suggested but gas prices changed that.

Treasurer: Karen Thrailkill reported that we had $1546.23 in our Treasury.

Secretary: Barry was not present, but Inez took notes and this letter reflects her notes. Thanks Inez.

Lu's brother was killed in a car accident on Saturday the 5th of April. Harry & Bonnie did not make the campout because of health reasons. Jim Owens gave the devotional on Sunday morning. As usual Jim always gives a great way for us to end our campouts.
