Lakeside RV Park, Mead, OK
We had a very good relaxing campout this month on Lake Texoma.
We had nine campers present and one visitor, Bryan Johnson and wife, Amberlie,
and son, Gavin. The members present were the Boeltes, Callahans, Claytons, Johnsons,
Marshes, Maxwells, Owens, Thrailkills and Tuckers. The weather was very good
for Oklahoma. Our Site Committee picked good sites next to the water plus the
fishing was good until the Johnson′s and Maxwell′s boats developed trouble.
They had more than enough fish for our dinner on Saturday evening and of course
all the wonderful side dishes the ladies provided. I think our cooks deserve
an A-plus. We sampled the local food on Friday at the Courtland Restaurant.
Their servings were huge, enough for two meals or more. On Friday we celebrated
two birthdays and one anniversary with Martha providing angel food cake and
fresh strawberries. Dennis M. and Drewman had birthdays. They didn't tell their
ages but (I heard) if you combined the two that it would be somewhere around
135 years. Congratulation to Dennis and Mildred Boelte who celebrated their
45th anniversary!
JUNE ANNIVERSARIES
4th - John & Rhonda Clayton, 15th - Jim
& Mary Lou Owens, 16th - Bill & Loreta West, 23rd - Delbert & Jean Bouse. No
June Birthdays
The following information is from President Thrailkill:
GREAT NEWS: Thanks to the efforts of the Johnsons and Owens we are making available
club shirts for those who have an interest. An attractive HITCHHIKER Club logo
is embroidered on each shirt and the individual has a nice selection of colors
from which to choose. The shirts are 55/45 cotton/poly blend, long or short
sleeved, and the colors are listed below. The price is $23 plus tax. Men′s sizes
run pretty true to form; however, the tapered women's shirts run small. Hopefully
we will have women′s sizes to try on at the June campout. Long sleeves are available
in the following colors: French Blue, Wine, Straw (yellow), Navy, White, Stone,
Hunter (not avail. for women) and Black. Short sleeves are not available in
Hunter or Straw. Extremely attractive jackets are available for $40 plus tax
(wide color selection) and ball caps with the club logo are $8.00 plus tax.
If you desire a shirt, hat or jacket and are not attending the June campout,
please contact Diane Johnson (580) 726-5373 as we hope to order in late June
and we must have a minimum of 12 per order. Again, purchasing the items is not
mandatory and only for those who wish to participate!
NOTE; SCHEDULE CHANGE
Due to circumstances beyond our control we have changed two of our upcoming
campout locations. JULY will be held at Cedar Valley in Guthrie. The OCTOBER
campout moved to Riverside RV Resort in Bartlesville.
NEW SPONSOR
Floyd's RV is the new HitchHiker dealer and has eagerly accepted sponsorship of our Club.
Floyd′s is paying the first year's Club membership for any new HitchHiker owner.
Mr. Bryan Johnson, the NuWay Product Manager at Floyd's, and his family attended
our May outing. In addition to the news of the new dealership, Bryan brought
a check from Floyd's for eight new HitchHiker owners who we will contact concerning
upcoming campouts and their possible membership. Floyd's is very enthusiastic
about our Club and we look forward to our association with them. FLOYD'S RECREATIONAL

June hosts will be Callahans
and Thrailkills. The entrée will be roasted turkey and there will need to be
some coordination so that we will have a potato dish, vegetable, salad and desert.
There are several routes to Indian Summer RV Park at Anderson, MO. Check your
maps. We will take I-44 to Exit 302, turn right, take 60 east to 71 at Neosho,
turn south on 71, go beyond where the 4-lane road turns into 2 lane south of
Anderson, turn right on EE 3 miles to 59, turn right, about 1 mile to Park on
the Right. (866)558-2550. For some reason they don′t recommend pulling your
rig on Hi-way 59 through Anderson. The caravan will meet at the Turnpike gate
Wednesday AM. We will have to decide on the time.
Thanks to our Hosts, the Johnson′s
and Boelte′s, for a great campout!
Remember in Prayer: Lu and Tommie are both
home. Lu′s progress is slow and painful, but doing ok. Tommie is extremely weak
and has no appetite. No word on when Tommie′s Chemo treatments will resume.
Message from Lu: Thanks everyone for your prayers, calls, cards and visits during
my hospital stay. It was very much appreciated!
