March 2007 Newsletter
FORT COBB STATE PARK
Welcome to the beginning of the 17th year of camping with the
OK Hitchhiker R/V Club. We got off to a good start with ten members present;
The Callahans, Cheathams, Griffins, Harrisons, Johnsons, Maxwells, Owens, Thrailkills,
Tuckers and Wests. Dennis and Mildred Boelte of Lone Wolf, OK were guests of
the Johnsons. The Marshes came on Saturday for the Pot Luck Dinner and Business
Meeting. The Halls joined us for dinner Friday night at the El Charro restaurant
in Carnegie.
The Johnsons and Boeltes played golf, Harry fished some, others went to
Wal-Mart
a few times and Bill and Tucker battled bouts of illness. We always enjoy getting
back together after various trips south to escape the winter weather. The Barratieres
headed to Fl for visits with relatives and the Finks and Reids. They came back
to Texas and joined the Callahans, Cheathams, and Tuckers. The Owens, Wests,
Maxwells, Prices and Tuckers took in the First Monday Flea Market in Canton,
TX. The Thrailkills moved into their new home. Maybe they will give us a tour
as soon as Karen gets everything in order - that's putting you on the spot,
Karen!
BUSINESS MEETING; President Gene Thrailkill called the meeting to order at 6:30p.m.
He welcomed our visitors, Dennis and Mildred Boelte. Jim Owens passed out new
member directories along with cell phone #'s and e-mail lists. Gene read a Letter
of Appreciation from the Diabetic Assoc. thanking us for our contribution. Gene
politely reminded us our dues need to be paid by March 31. Martha will be glad
to accept your money ($30.00). A reminder that the Oct. camping date has been
changed due to the HH Rally. More later on this. The December 2007 camping location
will be the same as last year, Twin Falls in OKC .
TREASURER'S REPORT; Martha reported our bank balance is $1,716.13.
WAGON MASTER REPORT: Zane has 8 signed up for next month's campout in Canyon
Lake, TX. They are the Callahans, Griffins, Johnsons, Marshes, Maxwells, Owens,
Thrailkills and Tuckers. For scheduling call Zane at 405 376-0769.
BIRTHDAYS: March 29, Delbert Bouse & John Clayton. No Anniversaries .
OUR HOSTS, Griffons and Wests provided a delicious brisket for the potluck dinner
and as usual all the ladies provided lots of good side dishes. On Sunday morning
the hosts made biscuits and gravy. (It doesn't get any better than that). Thanks
again to the hosts for an enjoyable campout.
Cliff gave the Pre-Easter devotional on the Crucifixion and how the atonement
for sin used to be the blood from slaughtered sheep and now the atonement for
sin is the blood from the crucified Lamb of God.
WE WELCOME NEW MEMBERS: MILDRED & DENNIS BOELTE. Their address is: R.R. 2, Box
52, Lone Wolf, OK 73655. Phone # (580)450-0308, E-mail:
Dbolte@SWOI.NET.
While we welcome our new members we are always sad when we lose long-time members.
Louise and Jimmy Thomas of Minco are leaving to explore new things this year.
Our Chaplin Donnie Fink and wife Charlene of Mustang for health reasons. Donnie
has been very faithful, always keeping in touch by phone and visits during illnesses
and hospital stays. We will miss them all and hope they will visit and keep
in touch. An old saying: "MAKE NEW FRIENDS KEEP THE OLD - ONE IS SILVER -
THE OTHER GOLD".
Our condolences to: The Barratieres in the loss of Lu's Brother and the Clayton's
in the loss of John's Mother.
