December 2007 Newsletter
We had 10 campers at Twin Fountains in OKC
this month. They were the Barratieres, Callahans, Cheatham, Griffins,
Harrisons, Johnsons, Marshes, Maxwells, Thrailkills and Tuckers.
Our President Thrailkill suggested we do things a little different this year
and I must say it turned out great, even though it was more work. The
traditional dinner was prepared by our own cooks, the decorations by Karen,
plus the wood burning fireplace and the Christmas tree in the club house
added to the festive occasion.
We had former members who can no longer camp as our guests; the Bouses,
Finks, Nikkels, Petersons, Janie Ramey and friend, Lauretta Thomas, from
Fletcher, OK, and the Thomases. It was great visiting with everybody, but
due to an ice storm headed in our direction we had to cut our visits short.
We had a wonderful surprise; Rhonda and John were able to join us for the
dinner. Rhonda is still having treatments, but she looked great. We look
forward to next season when she will have all this behind her and they will
be able to camp again.
We hope everyone survived the ice storm of the century without any major
problems. As for the Tuckers, for 5 days we got a taste of the “olden days”
without electricity or water. It sure makes us appreciate the modern
conveniences.
Martha reported donations for the Red Andrews dinner and Freedom Fund for
our service men and women totaled $464.00.
President Gene thanked the 2006/7 officers & welcomed the 2008 Officers.
They are:
Dennis Maxwell, President
Jimmy Johnson, Vice President
Barry Barratiere, Secretary
Karen Thrailkill, Treasurer
Ron Griffin, Wagon Master
Bill West, Chaplin
Jim Owens, Historian
